Give it a chance. Takes a while to get going but once it does there’s a proper tune in there. And it has an odd time signature which makes us look clever, if such a thing were possible. God, whatever that is. Nothing new to comfort youWhy should there beYou can tell me what oughtContinueContinue reading “God, whatever that is rehearsal – 07.05.26”

Rehearsal – 12.03.26
So I felt ill after this session. Sore throat and temperature but thought it might be because of the singing. It wasn’t. Mind you, however ill you feel it’s great to have a groove like this to relax into. It’s your certainty that worries me. Done Thanks for listening 🙏🏼
Rehearsal – 05.03.26
I know we’ve been quiet for a bit. We’ve got a new bassist (Chris) and it’s taking some time to bed us all in again. Not that he’s slow or anything – quite the opposite but we can only meet once a week for now and it all takes time. Also it’s not like weContinueContinue reading “Rehearsal – 05.03.26”
Walk in a straight line.
A song that until now has not been played by the full band. The last time we played this tune live was upstairs at the Hare and Hounds on Shudehill in town. Love Adam’s riff over this. It’s very hard (I would imagine) to play an accompanying riff on any instrument that manages to complementContinueContinue reading “Walk in a straight line.”
Wasted
So Wayne sends us a WhatsApp a couple of days before rehearsal last week and says he’s been listening to an old fishonastick recording of a song with loads of slide guitar on it and that he wants to have a go at recording it. The original was frantic and unrelenting in pace and hereContinueContinue reading “Wasted”
Protection
We are supposed to be genetically disposed to protect those closest to us. However, we are only required to do so if they cannot protect themselves. So what happens when that protective inclination has no outlet? You write a song about it. We are in an emotional bunker. The lame and worldly distractions are the munitionsContinueContinue reading “Protection”
Who is in control?
Elvis Presley’s final performance on August 3, 2025, surprised fans as he took the stage despite his passing. The emotional concert featured an unexpected appearance by music legends Bob Dylan, John Lennon, and Buddy Holly, adorned in golden lamé bum bags. Together, they delivered a memorable rendition of the iconic early ’80s song “Shadapp You Face.” This extraordinary gathering culminated in a moment of homage, where the four artists bowed to less-known musicians Wayne Shotton, Mike Shaw, and Adam Goodwin, known as fishonsastick. However, their final performance was met with mixed reactions from the audience.
Goodwin sacked from band.
How the scene might have looked if it had actually happened. AI generated image of two much more handsome men with better guitars than ours, arguing near a plate of biscuits. Adam Goodwin, the effervescent, limelight hogging, lead guitarist in fishonastick has been sacked for allowing his phone to ring during rehearsals. The awkward momentContinueContinue reading “Goodwin sacked from band.”
Boys in grown up’s clothing.
I wrote this song when the campaign for the acknowledgment of male pride teamed up with the society for the protection of white privilege to save money on mail shots. Feel my wrath. The whole evening was going really well until this happened. Look away now. Horrific isn’t it. Who could be responsible for suchContinueContinue reading “Boys in grown up’s clothing.”
