Once again the lead guitarist in alt-folk legends fishonastick has found himself immersed in a vat of disciplinary hot water. Fans of the very young looking tunesmiths will remember with dismay how Adam Goodwin recently came to blows with lead singer and renowned uber-professional, Michael R Shaw. The spat ultimately led to Goodwin being ejected from the band. The quarrel had begun in the main rehearsal area over a mobile phone going off mid-tune. It then spilled into the kitchen and onto a plate of bourbons that had been brought in by drummer Wayne Shotton, in some loc-tite kitchenware
Of that incident, Shotton told us,
“….it was a real hammer blow. I found myself in the middle of Mike and Adam. They are both radical artistic visionaries with a fervent passion for their oeuvre and the bourbons were those expensive ones from M&S”.
You can read about that unpleasant incident here.
Shortly after “bourbongate” Shaw contacted us to let us know that Goodwin had been re-hired and that their differences had “all been put behind them”.
But now, in what fans are calling a “cheap excuse to send out another email”, Goodwin has been up to his old tricks again. During the latest recording of their wistful anthem/plea to people who should let things go called “let it go”, the controversial guitarist can clearly be seen pulling a very silly face. Worse still he then goes on to blot his copy book with the very last utterance on camera – the ‘f-word.
On the post recording interview circuit Shaw, in full glare of the Gorse Hill’s frenzied media laid bare his exasperation.
“It’s not the first time. We said before we started that we were going give 110%, pull out all the stops and leave everything out there. That’s what some of us did. What I hadn’t anticipated was that some of us would leave a stupid face and an f bomb out there. It saddens me to say that I’ve had to let him go (oh the irony). Of course I love him I really do and I’m very sorry to both our fans, but sometimes you just have to do what’s best for the oeuvre, the music and for the wider industry in general. Honestly, it just no flippin good, and you can quote me on that”
Rumours coming out of Cheadle Hulme are that Goodwin may try to form a new band with pint-size pensman and former Rich in Spirit front man Jon Roy. More on that to come……..
