Except now we’re rehearsing in the acoustically marvellous Methodist hall in Gorse Hill. After a 5 year hiatus, we’re back and getting ready to promote a new album. This implies that we prepared to promote the last album, but that was a kind of lockdown effort so we couldn’t really. Anyway, a new album is coming and this time we’ll be ready to share the torture around.
So how can we continue with the charade of the hashtag #songsfromthefrontroom when it’s not in a front room anymore. Well, in truth it was never in a front room so wind your neck in.
Really, it should have been called “#songsfromthemiddleroomthatwastheloungeuntilwehaditknockedthrough” but Deacon Blue already had that.
Anyway we arrived at the hall on Thursday evening, worked out the right way round to hold a guitar, admired each other’s compression socks, sat down and played this. As you can hear, couple more rehearsals may be required but this is week 1 and it’s still a great tune.
Those you leave you leave alone. All the words wrapped up at home!!
Note to Phil. Shit we missed your bass-line and vocals. I tried to overdub your vocal at home. It went ok but anyone outside the earphones would have just seen me doing a very bad Bee Gees impression.
Lyrics
Go on strong one
Drive you and your family
over the hills.
Soon you will be gone
so make sure you live before
You get killed.
Those you leave you leave alone
All the words wrapped up at home
Concealed by fear of what may be
Released much later to breathe and be.
And you’ll write in the woods
And you’ll write good
And there’s no need
To
Read
Between the Lines
The story of our times.
It’s more than history
And when you’re gone
Your words live on
But it’s not vengeance
No, no, no
Its
Victory
🙏

Thanks Michael and company for all you do. Another strong one. Too many people can relate to the lyrics around the world. And for the lighter side as well. Hold onto your compression socks, folks.
Thanks Lois. Really appreciate your comments.
